Christmas Countdown is on!

It’s hard to believe, but December is here.  And those of you with kids know that there is a balance here, between how fast December slips away, and how long it can seem to take to get to Christmas when you have little voices asking each and every minute of every day “When is it Christmas?”

To pass the time, I’ve created an album on my FaceBook page highlighting my amazing clients from the past year.  From brand new babies, to weddings, to just some family love… these people have trusted me to capture their special moments and I feel so happy to have been able to be a part of their memories.

I will also post on my blog each day, counting down, but please feel free to “Like” kim culbert photography on FB and following along there too.

Little bundle of love – Coquitlam Newborn Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing little Miss A last week for her newborn session when she was just 9 days old.  I honestly think I might have the best job in the world, because not much compares to snuggling adorable little babies, like Miss A, capturing their smallness, their uniqueness and then getting to hand them back to their parents.  I love the little yawns, the little smiles, and all the love that I can see in the parents eyes when they bring their baby to me.

Please enjoy your teasers…

18 days new – Coquitlam Newborn Photographer

I won’t lie… I love newborn sessions best when they are done in the first two weeks after birth.  This is when babies tend to sleep the most, and are the squishiest, and usually have great skin.  Miss A came to my studio a little after the ideal time, but honestly, I would have never known.  She slept all the way through the session — even with my different bowls, buckets and stool props.  She was a dream, and I love the images that we captured of her newness.

Can’t forget some pictures with her parents…

Twice the fun, and twice the love – Twin Newborn Photographer

I don’t get twins in the studio very often, but when I do, I feel blessed.  There is such a bond between twins, it’s truly amazing to see.  It’s always more difficult when you add another tiny human into a photo session, but these two were superstars.  If one was fussing a little, I would just add the other twin next to them, and it was an almost instant settling for both of them.  I even managed to catch a moment of Mister M sucking on his sister’s nose for comfort.

I give kudos to parents of twins as well.  I always said that I wanted twins.  And then I had one baby.  And I thought to myself, “How would I manage with TWO of them at the same time?”  But twin parents just seem to have the knack for taking things in stride and making it work (and making it look easy while doing it.)

So, enjoy your precious little bundles… they won’t be so little forever.

Like a dream – Coquitlam Newborn Photographer

This sweet little girl came into the world at the start of February.  Her parents and older sister had been waiting for this day eagerly, and it was quite the celebration when she arrived.   Since they have opted for the Baby’s First Year package, I am looking forward to watching this little girl grow over the year.

Our session was so smooth… she slept like a dream, and snuggled in with her big sister for some great poses.

Here are some images from our newborn session:

2 month old cutie – Coquitlam Baby Photographer

This little guy was so full of charm.  He was such a happy guy for our session, and although I can find 2 month olds hard to predict, Mr. S was so laid back, and happy to do whatever we asked.  Put him in a basket, yep, he was okay with that.  Give him some tummy time… yep, still good!

I love capturing these moments, as in a baby’s first year they grow SO much.

First newborn of 2017 – Coquitlam Newborn Photographer

It’s only the 3rd week of January but I’ve already been busy with quite a few sessions.  But this sweet little girl was my first newborn of 2017. She was due to be born on Christmas eve, but had other plans. Despite mom wanting to meet her in 2016, she decided to wait until 2017 to make her entrance.

After seeing mom and dad there is no doubt that these two make gorgeous babies.  Enjoy your sneak peek!

Mr.T, the sleepiest guy around ~ Richmond Newborn Photographer

I got the call just last Friday that a new little boy had come into the world and the parents were looking for someone to take his newborn shots.  Luckily, I was able to meet with them on Tuesday, when Mr. T was just about 2 weeks old, which is the perfect time for sleepy newborns.

Mr.T was a perfect gentleman, letting me pose him while he spent the morning dreaming.   We also headed out to the trails around my home.. there will be some interesting photos coming up on the blog next week!  Stay tuned, and in the meantime here is a sneak peek… enjoy! BabyT

The many {sleepy} faces of Mr. E – Coquitlam Newborn Photographer

Mr. E was a superstar at our session.  He slept, well, like a baby, and enjoyed all the snuggles from big brother throughout the photo shoot. All that dark hair and squishy rolls… don’t get me started on what a heart-breaker this little guy is going to be!  Mom and dad, you’re going to have your hands full with your two adorable boys.

From a wee newborn to handsome 1 year old! – Coquitlam Family Photographer

I bet I say it every time  — I love the Baby’s First Year sessions.  I get to watch these amazing little newborns, fresh on this earth, grow into a little person, with such character by the time they are one.

Little Mr. A came early into the world, not waiting for his momma to get her maternity shots done.  I got to capture the newness of him, the smiles, the adorable features, so perfect.

6 months later, he came back into the studio… sitting up, sticking his tongue out at me every chance he got, and just enjoying the life.  Already his spunky character was starting to show through, and we had a great time capturing his goofiness, and spunky nature.

6 months007

Fast forward to his 1 year session… this little man has so many expressions, and just takes life as it comes.  The range of emotions flash across his face as he takes in the birds in the sky, the dogs passing by, and all the love and cuddles from mom and dad.

We had a fabulous session at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver, and the weather was gorgeous. (it could have been a bit warmer, but really, for March — it was awesome.)

It has been a pleasure watching this little man grow, and I look forward to future years!
